Bridges & Fields is a collection of works inspired by the spaces between, spaces for traversing and connecting. These liminal spaces empower us to shift our perspective from inside-out to outside-in. From within such spaces we can see the big picture, the molecule for the atom, the forest for the trees.
Composer Benjamin Marx’s work Feynman Diagrams for percussion, synthesizer, and samples, finds joy in a journey otherwise morose. Marx’s work takes cues from Feynman himself, and the physicist’s reckoning with love, death, and imagination.
This program also features a selection from a suite by composer Storm Benjamin, Fields I-IV. This work is a dialogue on the forces of the natural world, repelling and attracting, adding and diminishing.
Both works were commissioned by Striking Music.
